Public Sector Partners honored at IBM’s Business Partner Leadership Conference
Last week at IBM’s Business Partner Leadership Conference in Los Angeles, IBM announced three Public Sector business partners as recipients of 2008 Beacon Awards. Separately, IBM Global Public Sector recognized another 17 business partners as Top Stars.
The three Beacon Award public sector categories highlight unique innovations in key vertical industries as well as innovative solutions that address major global issues, such as healthcare. Winners and their categories were: Avatar Sociedad Anonima Cerrada (S.A.C.) and Cosapi Data S.A for Innovation Excellence in Government; BlueWare, Inc. and Vocera Communications, for Innovation Excellence in Healthcare and Life Sciences; and The rSmart Group for Innovation Excellence in Education.
Avatar S.A.C.and Cosapi Data S.A. teamed to build an Online Registration Advertisement Portal. The solution integrates 59 nationwide registration offices through a Private Data Network in Peru, that enables data exchange 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Benefits include improved user services for accessing the registration information and facilitating registration, as well as better processes for determining property and credit availability.
BlueWare’s Wellness Connection Electronic Health Record aggregates and makes available a patient’s complete electronic medical record (EMR). Information such as x-rays, nursing notes, ultrasounds, EKG scans, lab results, swallow tests, etc., can be pulled from other systems and displayed immediately. Scanning completes the record by integrating files to save the hospital valuable space and money. This solution translates into greater efficiency, higher productivity, faster and more accurate billing, increased patient and physician satisfaction, and huge savings, all while being HIPAA compliant.
Vocera developed the Vocera Communications System, a wearable, hands-free, closed loop, instant communication system, which is primarily used by Healthcare staff to communicate over a wireless 802.11 b/g LAN environment. The system consists of a lightweight (less than 2 ounces) badge, which is worn using a lanyard or clip; application software, based upon the number of users, that runs on a server; telephony ; and integration software. The clinical value to rapid response teams, hospital pharmacies, transport and operating room staffs has been exceptional.
The rSmart Sakai Collaboration and Learning Environment (CLE), based on open source software, enables institutions to provide new innovations in course management and collaboration to their constituents at lower costs all without vendor lock in. Customers report saving as high as 40% of what they were paying for previous solutions. With rSmart, customers have a software platform that enables greater campus-wide collaboration, builds greater faculty/student connections, and does all of this at lower costs than other comparable systems available in the market.
